Abstract
Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a rare and chronic neuroinflammatory immune-mediated disease of the central nervous system. Diagnostic criteria involve clinical manifestations, neuroimaging and AQP4 antibodies, the last two are not always available in our country; the same limitations are present when choosing the therapeutic strategy; so economic and socio-cultural factors play an important rol when diagnosing and treating our NMOSD patients.
